Chapter 474
"Dad, I'd like to take Luna shopping for the wedding. It's a once-in-a-lifetime event—she deserves the best." Andrew tightened his grip on Luna's hand.
Clara immediately pulled out a passbook from her pocket and offered it to Luna. "Andrew, Luna, this is a small gift from your father and me."
Luna hesitated, glancing at Andrew for guidance.
"Take it. It's their blessing," Andrew said with a smile, giving her palm an encouraging squeeze.
"Thank you, Mom and Dad." Luna accepted it graciously, her fingers lightly tracing the cover.
Jack checked his watch. "Discuss the arrangements with your mother. I have a meeting to attend." As he stood, Clara was already there with his scarf, deftly wrapping it around his neck.
Andrew led Luna upstairs. "Let's go to our room first."
The moment they entered, Luna handed the passbook back to Andrew.
"Why give it to me?" He chuckled, pushing it away before retrieving two passbooks from the drawer. "These are what I wanted to give you."
Luna's eyes sparkled. "What are these?"
"The blue one is my mother's inheritance. The red one is my savings over the years." He placed them in her hands. "From now on, you'll manage our household."
When Luna flipped open the blue passbook, her eyes widened in shock. The balance clearly read: 30,000 yuan.
"This much?"
"It's not much," Andrew said softly, sitting on the bed as he watched her count the amounts with tender amusement. "What's mine is yours."
She then opened the red passbook, where neat entries recorded each deposit, totaling 5,000 yuan. The memory of the 500 yuan he'd once pressed into her hand warmed her heart.
Finally, she checked Clara's passbook. 500 yuan—no more, no less.
"Figured it out?" Andrew laughed at her expression and pulled her into his arms.
"Hmm?"
"Dad's rule—500 yuan for each son's wedding." His fingers combed through her hair. "When it's the third son's turn, there'll be chaos."
Luna burst into laughter. "Your dad is something else."
"So..." Andrew suddenly turned serious, cupping her face. "Trust me. You'll have everything others do."
"Then let's go shopping now!" Luna sprang up, dragging him toward the door. "I'm emptying the department store!"
Andrew stumbled but laughed indulgently as sunlight streamed through the window, stretching their intertwined shadows across the floor.
