Chapter 112
"Luna, have you lost your mind?" Simon Liu slammed the table and stood up, his jowls trembling. "No matter how wrong your husband is, he's still your husband! What kind of nonsense is it to have your sister hit him? Divorce? How will you survive as a woman raising three sons alone?"
Darren Lewis hid behind the mayor, a smug grin on his face. He knew no one in Clark Village would dare not take his side.
Luna White stepped in front of her sister, her gaze sharp as a blade. "Mayor, can't you see what Darren did to my sister? I hit him to deliver justice! You want to arrest me? Fine, let's see when you, a mayor, gained authority over the police station!"
Simon's face turned ashen. In all his years as mayor, no one had ever spoken to him like this.
"You little brat, do you own the courthouse?" he sneered. "A marital spat isn't worth a divorce! Luna, tell me yourself—what will you use to feed your three sons if you leave him?"
Luna lifted her head, the bruises on her face horrifying. "I want a divorce! Haven't I suffered enough beatings all these years? Now he doesn't even care about our son's life—I can't live like this anymore!"
"Good!" Luna clapped. "Sis, I support you! I'm a college student—I'll fight this case with you to the end!"
Simon finally panicked. He turned to Darren. "What do you say?"
"Let her divorce!" A shrill voice cut in. Margaret Lewis hobbled in on her cane, her beady eyes glinting. "But if she wants out, she won't get a single penny!"
Darren immediately straightened. "That's right! Not a cent!"
Luna scoffed. "Every penny was earned by my sister. Why shouldn't she take it?"
Margaret gave a sinister smile. "Because she's shameless, bearing a bastard! If not for our Lewis family's kindness, a woman like her should've been paraded in shame long ago!"
Luna trembled. "Samuel is a Lewis! I swear to heaven!"
"Swear?" The old woman spat. "If you're truly innocent, then go die! Only then will I believe you!"
Tears spilled from Luna's eyes. Years of humiliation crashed over her like a tidal wave. Suddenly, she grabbed the scissors from the table and stabbed toward her own chest—
"Sis!" Luna lunged forward, gripping her wrist with all her strength.
The scissors clattered to the floor.
Luna, her eyes red, turned to Margaret. "Well, since you're so eager to see my sister die, why don't you go first?"
