Chapter 164
Inside the jeep, Ethan White nudged Harold Martin beside him as he stared at Luna White’s profile, her lollipop dangling from her lips. "That girl’s got skills! I thought I was done for back there, but the moment she stuck that needle in me, warmth rushed through my body. The bleeding stopped, and the pain eased up."
When no response came, Ethan turned to see Harold slumped against the seat, his lips stained with blood, his eyes rolled back—unconscious.
"Quick! Get that girl who knows acupuncture!" Ethan pounded the seat in panic.
A young soldier glanced over and nearly jumped out of his skin. Blood was still trickling from Harold’s mouth, soaking the front of his shirt.
"Miss! Help!" The soldier stumbled toward Luna. "Someone’s vomiting blood and passed out!"
Luna slowly pulled the lollipop from her mouth. "Who?"
"The—the one in the jeep!"
Grabbing her silver needles, Luna strode over, suppressing an eye roll. So much for playing tough. Now they need me?
Ethan and Clara White followed close behind. The moment Clara spotted Ethan, she gasped and snapped to attention with a crisp salute. "Commander!" Good heavens—it’s the highest-ranking officer in their military district!
Ethan waved her off. "Skip the formalities." He pointed at Harold. "Check him—he was fine a second ago. What happened?"
Twirling a needle between her fingers, Luna deliberately took her time. "I told you he had internal bleeding, but no one wanted me to treat him. Now I’ll just have to try." The moment the needle pierced Harold’s skin, he groaned.
"Get him to a hospital. Any later, and it’ll be too late." As Luna withdrew the needle, the wail of an ambulance echoed in the distance.
Ethan suddenly asked, "Girl, what’s your name?"
Luna gestured to Ethan. "My brother’s the one who saved you. His name’s Ethan White."
Ethan studied the siblings and nodded with a smile. "Both of you are impressive."
The hospital director arrived, panting, when Ethan abruptly ordered, "Take them with us to the hospital."
Luna’s heart skipped a beat. What’s this about? I didn’t slip up today, did I?
Ethan stepped protectively in front of her. "Commander, if there’s an issue, deal with me. Don’t involve my sister."
Lying on the stretcher, Ethan burst into laughter. "I just want to chat." As the medics hooked up an IV, his gaze remained fixed on Luna. "Girl, who taught you acupuncture? Your technique is seasoned."
Ethan cut in, "Family tradition. Nothing special."
"You keep speaking for your sister," Ethan teased. "Let her answer."
Luna blinked innocently. "Commander, I’m just a student. Acupuncture’s good for headaches and minor aches. Real emergencies belong in hospitals."
Ethan abruptly shifted gears. "Ever considered working for us?"
Luna smiled. "Commander, I’m here to enroll at the Aeronautical Academy. Once the paperwork’s done, I’ll be one of your soldiers."
As the ambulance siren blared, Ethan’s lips curved into a knowing grin.
