Chapter 192

Luna White paid no mind to the stares around her. She had come to the hospital to save lives, not to please anyone.

Andrew Smith insisted on accompanying her to the cafeteria. Unable to dissuade him, Luna reluctantly let him tag along.

"Sorry, Dr. White," the cafeteria lady said apologetically. "All we have left are a few stale buns and half a plate of shredded potatoes." She glanced furtively at Director Xing, who sat in the corner, showing no reaction.

Luna sighed at the yellowed buns and meager portion of potatoes in her tray. This wouldn’t be enough for two people.

"Let’s eat outside," she whispered, tugging Andrew’s sleeve.

Andrew frowned at the pitiful leftovers. Was this what his girl had to endure at the hospital?

"Luna," he murmured, leaning closer, "should I pull some strings to transfer you to another hospital?"

She laughed softly. "I just got here. This is nothing." Rising on her tiptoes, she added in his ear, "Besides, I’m going to be the director here someday. Running away now would be cowardly."

Andrew chuckled, but before he could reply, a booming voice interrupted them.

"Dr. White! Where are you off to?"

Director Zhang strode over, his sharp gaze flickering between them.

"This is my fiancé, Andrew Smith," Luna introduced. "The cafeteria’s out of food, so we’re heading out."

Director Zhang’s expression darkened. "You have top-tier meal vouchers and still can’t get a proper meal? Come with me!"

Seeing the situation turning sour, Director Xing hurried forward. "Director Zhang! I’ll have the kitchen whip up some specialties for you right away!"

"Make sure Dr. White gets a proper meal too!" Zhang slammed his hand on the table. "Five dishes—now!"

Sweat beaded on Director Xing’s forehead as he nodded frantically. "Right away! Dr. White, just name what you’d like!"

Luna smiled sweetly and listed a few dishes, adding pointedly, "And double the beef stew with potatoes."

Andrew squeezed her hand, amused by the mischief in her eyes. His girl wasn’t one to be trifled with.

The kitchen erupted into chaos. Director Xing personally oversaw the preparations, inwardly cursing his misjudgment. He’d seriously underestimated her.
