Chapter 326
Grandma Eleanor sprang up from the bed like a fish leaping out of water, startling Sally so badly she nearly toppled from her chair.
"Mom! You... how..." Sally stammered, her eyes wide with shock.
The elderly woman's face was now flushed with vitality, bearing no trace of the frail, sickly patient she had been just minutes ago. It was hard to believe that ten minutes earlier, Grandma Eleanor had been suffering from uremia—so swollen she could barely turn over without assistance, her breathing labored.
"Don't just stand there gaping, silly girl," Grandma Eleanor chuckled, patting her daughter’s cheek affectionately.
Sally turned mechanically toward Luna White, who was huddled in the corner, wrapped tightly in a padded coat, her face alarmingly pale. Yet this seemingly fragile young woman had somehow managed to restore Grandma Eleanor—bedridden for half a year—to her feet in mere minutes.
Before anyone could react, Grandma Eleanor threw off the blankets and swung her bare feet onto the floor.
"Mom, don’t—!" Sally cried, lunging forward.
But Grandma Eleanor was already standing steadily, striding toward Luna with surprising vigor. Sally’s heart pounded—her mother hadn’t walked unaided in six months, needing support even for trips to the bathroom.
"Dr. White!" Grandma Eleanor suddenly dropped to her knees with a thud. "You’re an angel sent to save us!"
Luna jolted at the unexpected gesture, hastily reaching to pull the older woman up. But Grandma Eleanor was stubbornly strong, refusing to budge.
"Auntie, please get up!" Luna pleaded, stamping her foot in frustration before turning to the stunned Sally. "Help me!"
Snapping out of her daze, Sally rushed over, and together they hauled Grandma Eleanor back onto the bed.
"Dr. White, your skills are nothing short of miraculous..." Grandma Eleanor babbled gratefully.
Just as Luna let out a relieved sigh, a loud thud echoed through the room.
Sally had dropped to her knees on the concrete floor and was now kowtowing—three resounding bows that shook the ground beneath them.
"Oh, for heaven’s sake!" Luna nearly jumped out of her skin. Her body was already weak and trembling from the strain of healing; she couldn’t handle this kind of shock.
The door burst open as Lily Clark and William Cooper rushed in, just in time to see Sally’s forehead reddening from the force of her bows.
"Help... get her up..." Luna’s teeth chattered. "I need... some ginger tea..."
William yanked Sally to her feet in one swift motion, then barked at the still-dazed woman, "Boil some water! Dr. White’s drained from the treatment!"
Lily had already dragged a chair near the coal stove and was guiding Luna into it. William stoked the fire, and warmth quickly filled the room.
Luna pulled her coat tighter, staring blankly at the flames. The mother and daughter’s gratitude was overwhelming—she’d nearly been scared out of her wits.
