Chapter 443
"Dr. White, would you like to take a break?" A young team member cautiously handed her a towel, his eyes filled with concern. He had just inspected the gun—the firing pin was broken. It shouldn't have been able to fire at all.
Luna took the towel and wiped the sweat from her forehead. Her gaze remained fixed on the weapon, her mind in turmoil. In that split second earlier, she had distinctly felt her supernatural ability reverse its flow, like an electric current suddenly switching direction.
"Give me the gun," she said abruptly, reaching out.
The young man hesitated. "But it's—"
"I know," Luna cut him off, her expression resolute. "I just want to try again."
The moment the gun touched her palm, she closed her eyes. Her ability rippled through her like water, but this time, she deliberately controlled its direction. Warm energy enveloped the cold metal, allowing her to sense the condition of every internal component.
She opened her eyes, raised the gun, and took aim.
Bang!
A perfect bullseye.
Silence fell over the room. Everyone stared in disbelief, including the young man who had sworn the gun was broken.
"That's impossible..." he muttered, snatching the weapon back to inspect it. The firing pin was still snapped, the magazine empty. He looked up, bewildered. "Dr. White, how did you—?"
Luna didn’t answer, only smiled mysteriously. She took the gun again and reversed her energy flow, letting it course backward this time. The metal grew warm in her grip.
She pulled the trigger.
Click.
Nothing.
"Again," she murmured, letting her ability flow normally once more. The gun fired—another perfect shot.
Gasps and scattered applause erupted from the onlookers. Some looked as if they'd seen a ghost.
The young man’s face paled, his hands trembling. He checked the gun a third time, but the result was the same—it was still a useless hunk of metal.
"Dr. White," he swallowed hard, "are you... using some kind of magic?"
Luna handed the gun back without answering. As she turned away, excitement flickered in her eyes. This accidental discovery was monumental—her ability wasn’t just for healing. It could also destroy.
More importantly, she might have found a way to control it.
The young man, refusing to believe what he’d seen, raised the gun and pulled the trigger. Nothing happened. Beads of sweat formed on his forehead. This defied every law of physics he knew.
"What the hell..." he whispered, watching Luna’s retreating figure with newfound awe.
Meanwhile, Luna was already striding toward her quarters. She needed solitude to study this revelation. If her hunch was right, it would completely reshape her understanding of her own power.
Maybe she was never just a healer after all.
