Chapter 111

Darren Lewis pointed at Luna White as the villagers gathered around. "You little bitch dared to hit me? You won’t leave Clark Village alive today!" He wiped the blood from his lip, his eyes glinting with malice. With the crowd backing him, his confidence surged.

Everyone knew how fiercely villagers protected their own.

"Look at this, folks!" Darren shouted, playing the victim. "Someone from Six Paths Village is bullying us! Luna sent her sister to beat me—where’s the justice in that?" He clutched his swollen cheek, exaggerating his pain. "I’m divorcing Luna! I won’t keep this vicious woman!"

Then he twisted the narrative, stirring the pot: "If we let outsiders humiliate us today, how will our village ever hold its head high? What respect will our married daughters have in their husbands’ homes? If you’re real men of Clark Village, stand with me!"

A cunning move—turning a domestic dispute into a feud between villages, using the crowd to punish Luna.

The villagers exchanged uneasy glances. One man rolled up his sleeves, but his friend stopped him. "Don’t be rash! That man looks like an official. Touch him, and you’ll face the law!"

"Fetch the mayor!" someone yelled.

Luna stepped forward with her sister, her voice clear and firm. "Uncles, aunties, I’m Luna’s sister, Luna White. I came to visit today and found Darren beating her until her face was covered in blood!" She lifted Luna’s collar, revealing the dark bruises.

"Their child is gravely ill. My sister only wanted the money she earned to save him, but Darren threatened divorce and to throw her out with nothing!" Luna’s eyes reddened. "A man like him isn’t worth dirtying my hands over."

She scanned the crowd. "Today, we demand a divorce—with a fair division of assets under the law. My sister will take the three children so they won’t suffer under a stepmother. If Darren refuses, we’ll take him to court!"

At the mention of legal action, the villagers retreated.

Darren panicked. "Bullshit! Why should she get my property?" He groaned, clutching his stomach—Luna’s kicks had left him aching inside.

"Enough!" Mayor Simon Liu arrived, panting, his expression weary. "What’s so entertaining about a marital spat?"

At his command, the crowd dispersed.

Simon glared at Darren, disgusted. Pathetic—beaten by a girl. His gaze turned cold toward Luna. This woman only brings trouble.
