Chapter 298
Jiang Shaoqing pushed the door open, his expression now composed. His slender fingers tapped lightly on the desk. "The Shang family called. Shang Feng and Shang Kaiwen will be here in an hour."
Luna White set down her chopsticks, and Andrew Smith handed her a handkerchief at just the right moment. She accepted it, dabbing her lips with the grace of a noblewoman.
"How prompt," she murmured with a faint smile.
Jiang Shaoqing scoffed. "Their precious heir is in trouble—of course they'd rush over. Shang Feng is cunning, and Shang Kaiwen is even sharper. If she weren't a woman, Shang Kaijie wouldn’t stand a chance in that family." He paused. "Half of the Shang family’s decisions come from that girl’s scheming."
Then it struck him—when had he become Luna’s informant?
This woman was terrifying. She had played him from the very beginning. With Andrew present, even if he didn’t help her, he wouldn’t dare cross Andrew. What a ruthless move.
Jiang gritted his teeth. Andrew’s wife was nothing short of a demon—brilliant in medicine, shrewd in strategy, all wrapped in an innocent face. Everyone at the hospital praised her kindness, but the Luna before him, calculating and composed, was nothing like the rumors.
For a moment, he wondered—was she an angel or a devil?
"Before the Shangs arrive," Luna spoke softly, "let Shang Kaijie take a nap. I don’t want him remembering anything."
Jiang raised a brow. "Straight to the point, aren’t you?" He turned to his assistant. "Put him to sleep—but not for too long."
The assistant hurried off.
"Dr. White," Jiang narrowed his eyes, "do you have some vendetta against the Shangs?"
"A blood feud," Luna replied, her gaze icy. "I want their downfall."
Jiang’s eye twitched. Was she insane?
"Don’t think this doesn’t concern you," Luna suddenly smiled. "The Shang family’s Tianchi Mine has already tunneled beneath your Dongtan Mine. Those two cave-ins—"
Jiang shot to his feet. "How do you know that?"
"I told her," Andrew said calmly.
"You—!" Jiang trembled with anger. "You didn’t think to mention something this important sooner?"
Andrew pulled Luna closer, unapologetic. "My wife wanted to know, so I told her."
"You’re done for!" Jiang jabbed a finger at him. "Henpecked!"
"Gladly." Andrew kissed the top of Luna’s head. "Next time, don’t tell him."
Luna nodded sweetly, grinning like a cat that got the cream.
Jiang massaged his temples. These two were a match made in hell.
