Chapter 163
The accident scene was chaotic, with shattered glass scattered across the ground. Luna White crouched beside a bloodied middle-aged man, her silver needles flashing as she worked.
"The bleeding stopped!" a bystander gasped.
The man opened his eyes and grasped Luna's hand weakly. "Miss... you're an angel..."
Before Luna could stand, another man with tear-streaked cheeks grabbed her arm. "Doctor! Please save my daughter!"
Nearby, a seven-year-old girl lay unconscious, her face turning blue. The father wrung his hands. "She was eating candy when the crash happened—"
Luna darted forward. A silver needle flickered at the base of the girl's neck. The child suddenly coughed violently, expelling a sticky candy fragment.
"Incredible!" The crowd erupted in awe.
Ethan White moved to assist but was intercepted by a ponytailed woman. "Is your sister a licensed physician?"
"I—" Ethan hesitated.
"Yan Chunli, head nurse at the Military District Hospital." The woman's tone turned icy. "Practicing medicine without credentials is illegal!"
Ethan squared his shoulders. "Her skills are ancestral knowledge!"
"Preposterous!" Yan's face flushed with anger. "This isn't the Dark Ages—"
A bloodcurdling scream cut her off. A middle-aged woman convulsed on the pavement, clutching her abdomen.
Yan rushed over and paled. "Acute appendicitis! She needs surgery now!"
"Where's the ambulance?" coworkers fretted.
The woman gave a final twitch and went still.
"No pulse!" someone shouted.
As Yan prepared for CPR, Luna slipped through the crowd. Silver needles flew like shooting stars.
The woman gasped awake.
Silence blanketed the scene.
Yan's lips trembled, her medical training contradicted by this impossibility.
Luna wiped her brow. "Get her to the ER."
Sirens wailed as ambulances arrived. The lead paramedic studied Luna with undisguised curiosity before departing.
"You..." Yan struggled for words.
Luna winked. "Just family tricks."
Ethan seized his sister's hand. "You're freezing!" Her skin felt like winter frost.
"Tired, that's all." Luna licked parched lips. "Ethan, get me chocolate?"
Without question, Ethan wrapped his jacket around her and sprinted to a convenience store. He returned with fistfuls of fruit candies. "All I could find..."
The sweetness bloomed on Luna's tongue. If only she could have steaming beef noodles now... Her stomach growled audibly.
Distant sirens multiplied as reinforcements approached. Sunlight haloed Luna's pallid face, her exhaustion momentarily gilded.
