Chapter 302

When Sean Shaw and Kelsey Shaw followed Shawn Johnson into the room, Kevin Shaw was still sound asleep, wrapped tightly in his blanket, completely unaware of the disaster he had caused.

Billions in losses—gone, just like that, while he slept.

Sean trembled with rage. He yanked the blanket off and kicked his son hard.

"Who the hell dares—" Kevin bolted upright, fists clenched, only to deflate instantly when he saw who stood before him. "Dad... Kelsey..."

He immediately realized the situation had escalated—his father and sister wouldn’t have come in person otherwise. The usually arrogant young man now looked as pitiful as a wilted plant.

Truthfully, he had been awake for a while. Once he realized his limbs could move again, he’d guessed the paralysis from the fall had been temporary. He was certain Shawn wouldn’t actually harm him, so he’d gone back to sleep.

Yesterday’s desperate escape had only been for pride’s sake. The last thing he wanted was to drag his father and sister into this mess.

Yet here they were.

"How dare you sleep? You tried to kill someone—is there anything you won’t do?" Sean’s voice shook with fury. He wanted nothing more than to beat this worthless son senseless.

Kevin quickly plastered on an ingratiating smile. "Dad, I messed up. But that woman provoked me..." He shot a glance at Shawn, carefully framing the attempted murder as mere "discipline."

"Shawn, considering our families’ friendship, could you let this slide...?" His tone was obsequious, knowing Shawn wouldn’t truly abandon him.

Shawn responded coldly, "Mr. Shaw, you’ve seen him—I haven’t laid a finger on him. Once the contract is signed, you’re free to take him."

He couldn’t stand looking at Kevin a second longer. Disgusting.

Sean kicked his son twice more, his heart bleeding—this fool had cost them billions!

"Stay put and don’t move!" he barked before storming out with Kelsey.

Kevin blinked in confusion.

Soon, all formalities were completed. Shawn tapped the contract. "Robert, escort them out."

Watching the Shaw family leave, Shawn whistled under his breath.

Billions—just like that.

All thanks to Luna’s tip. He’d never been interested in the Tianchi Coal Mine, but this outrageous demand actually put the Shaws at ease—they wouldn’t suspect any ulterior motives.

"Deliver the deed to Luna," he instructed his assistant. "Tell her it’s what she earned. And that she shouldn’t be too grateful."

The assistant nodded and left.

Shawn exhaled deeply. Making billions overnight through what amounted to highway robbery—and he felt no guilt whatsoever.

Had Luna corrupted him?

He needed to stay far away from that woman.

Luna returned to her dorm for a short nap before heading to work on time. One sleepless night wouldn’t kill her—she could always catch up on rest later.

In her office, her mind wandered. She wondered how Andrew was doing. Between training and work, his days were far more grueling than her clinic shifts.

She considered calling but decided against it.

After treating an elderly patient for back pain and receiving effusive thanks, she finally noticed someone else in the room.

"Dr. White, Mr. Johnson asked me to deliver this." The assistant bowed slightly. "He said no thanks are necessary."

Luna accepted the manila envelope. "Please convey my gratitude. And tell him following my advice guarantees success."

The assistant nearly choked. This woman had nerve.

Once alone, Luna opened the documents and smiled.

Shawn was indeed a shrewd businessman—and surprisingly fair.

She hadn’t expected any profit from this, but he’d considered everything.

Was this profit-sharing?

Well, if he got the meat, she was content with the broth.

This land would be invaluable once redeveloped. Her sister and brother-in-law’s business would flourish—it was destined to become prime real estate.
