Chapter 181
Frank Ferguson's eyes bulged as he glared at the sudden appearance of Luna White.
The security team's attitude shifted instantly upon hearing her words. If they were divorced, she wasn't family—this changed everything.
"What exactly are you doing here?" The security captain scowled. "Causing trouble in the hospital in the middle of the night? Should I detain you right now? This is an armed police hospital—disturbing the peace carries legal consequences."
A chill ran down Frank's spine. He had bullied Lily Collins because he knew she valued her reputation and loved their child. But the security team wouldn’t show him any mercy.
"Comrade, I'm just here for child support," Frank immediately adopted a pitiful expression. "You don’t understand—Lily was involved with another man and insisted on divorce. Our child is still young, so I—"
The security officers' expressions softened slightly. These days, moral misconduct was a sensitive topic.
Luna suddenly let out a light laugh. "Oh, how interesting. Dr. Collins has worked here for years and never even exchanged unnecessary words with male colleagues. Meanwhile, you remarried within six months of the divorce—quite the speed."
The security team paused. Lily was famously reserved at the hospital. The idea of her having affairs was laughable.
Frank trembled with rage. "Y-you're lying!"
"I'm just a neighbor telling the truth," Luna said matter-of-factly. "Security, this man is disturbing my rest. I have work tomorrow."
Seeing that Luna lived in the specialists' quarters, the security team immediately turned on Frank. "Get out! One more word and we’ll haul you in!"
Frank had no choice but to slink away. Before leaving, he shot a venomous glare at the lit window upstairs—Lily must have been watching his humiliation.
Just wait and see!
After thanking Luna, Lily returned to her room. Luna closed the door with a sigh. This world was cruel to women.
Frank pedaled home on his bicycle, where his new wife, Maggie Lawson, was doing laundry.
"Why are you back so late?" Maggie wiped her hands, her tone sour. She feared Frank rekindling things with his ex-wife.
Frank shoveled food into his mouth as he ranted. "That bitch hid from me! A little more pressure and she would’ve coughed up the money, but some nosy busybody called security!"
Maggie’s eyes gleamed. "I say, send your mother with Phoenix tomorrow. A father asking for child support is only natural!"
Frank slapped his thigh. "Brilliant!"
After dinner, he rushed to his mother’s room in the backyard.
The old woman was about to sleep when her son barged in. "What brings you here so late?"
After hearing his complaints, the old woman’s beady eyes narrowed. "How dare she! Tomorrow, I’ll take Phoenix—let’s see if she dares refuse!"
Frank hid a smirk. His mother had been infamous in the factory for her tantrums—she’d rolled on the director’s doorstep more than once to secure his job.
Then she abruptly changed the subject. "Your brother’s wedding—you’re paying for it. Back then, he sacrificed his career for yours—"
Frank agreed outwardly but cursed inwardly. Like hell he would! If not for needing her tomorrow, he wouldn’t bother.
The old woman nodded, satisfied. "Good. Now go to bed—tomorrow, leave it to me!"
As Frank stepped out, a sinister grin spread across his face. Tomorrow, Lily would regret everything.
