Chapter 284
The midday sun streamed through the glass windows, casting warm light across the restaurant. Luna White and Ryan Wallace bustled about, attending to new customers with barely concealed delight. Though only three tables were occupied, each had spent thirty to fifty dollars—already over a hundred in revenue by noon. If business doubled by evening, today's earnings would be secure.
"Sis, look over there!" Luna suddenly tugged at her sister's sleeve.
A group of hospital administrators filed in, led by none other than Dean Zhang. Behind him trailed department heads, including Dr. Li Ran, who rarely interacted with Luna. Her pulse quickened as she hurried to greet them.
"Dean Zhang, what brings you here in person?" Luna beamed, her eyes crinkling with warmth.
Dean Zhang feigned offense. "What, is my old face not welcome here?" He glanced around. "I heard your sister opened a hotpot place, so I brought everyone to show support."
Ryan immediately stepped forward to assist while Luna handed over the menu. Dean Zhang waved it off. "No need—just bring us your specialties!" He turned to the group. "Today, eat to your heart's content. Anyone who holds back will answer to me!"
Luna's chest swelled with gratitude. This was Dean Zhang publicly endorsing her. Everyone in the hospital knew: those he personally took out to dine were the ones he valued most.
When the split hotpot arrived, the group marveled. Dean Zhang dipped a slice of lamb into the spicy broth, his eyes lighting up. "This flavor is incredible!" The others echoed his praise.
After the meal, Luna went to settle the bill, only to learn Dean Zhang had already paid. Her eyes stung slightly—she wouldn't forget this kindness.
By evening, Luna left work early and hurried to the restaurant. The rich aroma of hotpot greeted her from a distance, and every table was full. To her surprise, the lunchtime customers had even brought friends.
"Luna," her sister whispered conspiratorially, "Mr. Jiang is upstairs. He asked about you."
Her heart skipped. Smoothing her collar, she ascended to find Jared Jiang chatting animatedly with two young men. He stood the moment he saw her.
"Dr. White, we meet again." His lips curved, eyes glinting like starlight.
Luna steadied herself. "Mr. Jiang gracing us with your presence truly honors our humble establishment."
He chuckled. "The honor is mine. This authentic hotpot is a privilege to experience." His gaze burned. "Might I have the pleasure of your company for dinner?"
Her ears flushed. This man—he was trouble.
